Quality Service Since 1976

FAQ

Q. How often should I have my transmission checked?

A. Consult your owner manual for their recommend servicing. we recommend that you have your transmission checked annually. your transmission should be serviced every 30,000 miles or two years which ever comes first.

Q. What is the difference between a trans flush and a service?

A. A transmission flush consist of exchanging most of the fluid, but does not include changing the filter. a service includes a road test, a visual inspection and cleaning of the transmission pan, installing a new filter and fluid.

Q. A service sounds better why all the hype about having your transmission flushed?

A. It takes much less time to perform a trans flush as compared to a service but the cost is about the same. most shops view this as less time more money.

Q. What does my vehicle manufacturer recommend?

A. Most vehicle manufacturers recommend replacing the trans filter and fluid at specific intervals, and at Bay Transmissions we also agree.

Q. What is the difference between "severe' and 'normal' driving in your preventive maintenance schedule?

A. This is an excellent question and one this is not easily answered. each manufacturer has its own interpretation of this. it is always best to check your owners manual for the correct requirements.

Q. To determine whether or not you are a normal or severe driver, answer the following questions:

Do you frequently drive in stop and go traffic? Do you drive in extreme temperature conditions above 90 degrees or below 32 degrees?

Do you drive in dusty or muddy conditions or on rough roads? Do you drive at prolonged higher engine speeds?

Do you use your car for towing? Do you travel with car-top carrier?

Do you drive in areas where road de-icing salts are used or do you live in a coastal area?

A. If you answer "yes" to any of these questions, consider yourself a severe driver and use the appropriate maintenance schedule.

Q. Are repairs warranted?

A. Yes, all repairs are warranted, also as being a member of ATRA, Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association it allows us to offer the best warranty in the world!

Q. Do I need an appointment?
